quite possibly the reason I had him
There's a fairly new dress shop in town. It's called Teresa's Bridal Boutique. To really paint the picture, you have to realize this building used to be a Kum 'n Go. I bought 32 ounce Diet Cokes there and candy bars. After that it was boarded up like a giant box, overtly noticeable by its sheer boringness. It stood like that for what seemed like years. So the fact that it now has a sleek black-bordered front with huge window displays filled with glamorous gowns - it's quite a difference. And I look at it kind of longingly when we drive by.
You may not know this, but it should be inserted here that being fitted for just one couture gown just once in my lifetime (for an actual purpose preferably) is one of my dreams.
The other day, there was a big, beautiful red dress in the window. It looked like something that could totally hold its own on the red carpet. And oh I wanted to be wearing it. I was riding in the car with Michael and our three little boys on the way from their boyish play at home to a sweaty game at the baseball diamond. And when I saw that oh-so-girlie wonderfulness, I gasped right out loud and said, "Oh, what a pretty dress!" Drew agreed. Michael abstained from sarcastic comment, Jake was quiet, and John said this, "It looks like it was made for you."
There is no longer a single late-night feeding, sick day, birthday present, chauffeuring duty, or you-can-have-the-last-cookie moment for which he has yet to thank me.
