An Update on the Pursuit

Do you wonder how the novel rewriting goes? After all, I did declare November, National Revising Month. And now I'm declaring December that as well. If all goes well, though, I'm declaring January the month where I don't know what to do with myself because I've finally sent the novel to my agent and free time actually exists again.

I'm having so much fun, though. Do you know how satisfying it is to be chipping away at a first draft instead of bleeding and sweating over empty pages? It's very satisfying. I'm reminded that I do this because I like it and that it's definitely going to become something of substance someday and that I don't need to rush that day into existence. It's a good feeling. I like the world of my book, and I like very much certain parts of it that I know are okay. I like the idea of it. And I like the process of trying to make the reality match the idea.

I told you I would do this, right? I told you I was going to try and enjoy every step in the process instead of always wishing for the next one. And I think, maybe-just-maybe, I'm doing that this time.
